Please join us in celebrating the new book Studio Talks: Thinking Through Painting, which will launch at the opening of the exhibition Thinking Through Painting, Part 2 at The Royal Academy of Fine Art in Stockholm this Saturday, 4 October, from 12-4 pm.
Thinking Through Painting is an on-going investigation of contemporary painting involving numerous discussions and studio visits over the past five years. Taking the artist’s perspective as a point of departure, this book collects commissioned texts and transcribed conversations between artists, theorists, curators and critics active in Stockholm, Oslo and New York. By exploring relationships between concept-based language and an embodied form of thinking through material and perception particular to painting, this book attempts to address the discourse surrounding painting and contemporary art.

”The contemporary institutional and theoretical art scene often seems to be uneasy, and at times even lost in its relationship to painting. Thinking Through Painting grew out of a common desire for an unpretentious conversation about painting as a relevant and living part of contemporary art.”
